Tom Wilkinson served the FDU-Florham community as the Devils Head Athletic Trainer for 29 years from 1987 to 2016. In his honor and dedication to the Florham Campus, the department's Comeback Player of the Year Award is named in Wilkinson's honor.
 
A 1975 graduate of James Madison University, Wilkinson spent the first nine years of his career working in professional football. He worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the World Football League with the Florida Blazers, the Charlotte Hornets, and in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. He also worked as a Head Athletic Trainer in the United States Football League with the Tampa Bay Bandits and Washington Federals. In 1999, the National Athletic Trainers Association recognized Wilkinson for 25 years of membership.
