FDU's second men's basketball coach, Bill Raftery stands as the second winningest coach for men's basketball in school history with a 63-47 record (.527 winning percentage). Raftery went on to coach Seton Hall University's men's basketball program from 1970 to 1982, compiling a 156-140 record in 11 seasons. During his college coaching career, Mr. Raftery gained three National Invitational Tournament berths. He was named Coach of the Year in 1979 by the New Jersey Basketball Writers Association. In 1983, Raftery joined CBS Sports as a basketball anaylst and has covered the NCAA men's basketball tournament every year since. He works regular season college basketball games as an analyst for ESPN and the Big East Monday Night Game of the Week. He also announces the National Basketball Association's New Jersey Nets games for SportsChannel.
