Hall of Fame
King scored 1,068 points in his career to rank 17th all-time in program history. He possessed the unusual characteristic of being able to rank among the team leaders in points, rebounds, and assists, having scored over 1,000 points, grabbed over 500 rebounds, and made over 200 assists.
A four-year starter and a two-time captain, King ranks second on the single-season free throws made list with 123 in 1978-79. His 352 career free throws made rank second all-time. He also ranks fourth all-time at FDU on the free throws attempted list with 484. For the 1981-82 season, King was named team MVP. That season, he scored 294 points (12.8 ppg) to rank second on the team while leading the team in rebounding with 178 boards. As a senior, he was named All-State by the New Jersey College Basketball Coaches Association. Over the course of his career, King was also named the team’s Freshman of the Year, the Rose City Classic MVP, and also NJCBCA Player of the Week.
A standout high school player, King starred for the 1978 Cliffside Park team that went 18-0 in BCSL play, earning All-Bergen County honors from the Bergen Record and the Hudson Dispatch.
King resides in Basking Ridge, New Jersey with his three children and enjoys coaching their basketball teams. Professionally, he works for JP Morgan Chase, managing 401(k) and retirement plans.
