Hall of Fame
The 1993 FDU-Madison Devils Football team is the winningest squad in program history. The team posted an 8-3 mark and appeared in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament.
During the regular season, the team went 5-0 at home and posted a 4-1 record in conference games. Offensively, the Devils were led by quarterback Frank Plefka. Plefka, who ranks first all-time in touchdown passes with 35, tossed for 2,216 yards and 24 touchdowns during the 1993 season. The Devils quarterback’s favorite target was Vic Moncato. Moncato hauled in 64 receptions for a program-best 1,217 yards and 14 touchdowns on the campaign. FDU-Madison’s ground attack was paced by sophomore running back Chris Frangipane’s 498 yards.
Defensively, the Devils limited opponents to 15.7 points per game on the season led by junior linebacker Ed Schon. Schon was flanked by fellow linebacker Eric Kohler as the team’s two top tacklers totaled 139 stops on the season.
