Eugene Hecht played basketball at FDU from 1961 through 1965. While playing in Madison, Hecht scored 1,283 points and tore down 1,019 rebounds. He ranks ninth all-time in scoring and fourth all-time in rebounding. His 35 rebounds against Brooklyn Poly in the 1963-1964 season still ranks as the all-time record at FDU. He is third all-time with 13.7 rebounds per game and sixth all-time with 17.3 points per game for his career. His 519 career field goals rank ninth in school history. He is seventh on the single-season records list with 15.8 rebounds per game. Hecht led FDU in scoring two straight years, (1962-1963 and 1963-1964). He works for Leo Hecht Incorporated, a plumbing contracting business founded by his father 50 years ago. He is an active member of the Irvington Chamber of Commerce and was named 1998 Man of the Year. Hecht and his wife, Beverly, who was FDU's Campus Queen in 1965, live in West Caldwell, New Jersey. They have a son, David, who lives in San Diego,Califronia, and a daughter Laura, who lives in New York City.
