Hall of Fame
McDermott served as the Head baseball Coach for FDU-Florham from 1989-1997. He is the second winning-est coach in program history with an overall record of 154-145-5 for a .515 winning percentage.
During his tenure as head coach, he led the Devils to sic post season appearances that included a MAC Overall Championship and an NCAA tournament appearance in 1996, a MAC Freedom Championship and ECAC Championship in 1995 and an ECAC Championship in 1994.
Jim was a two-time Coach of the year, coached 15 First team All-Conference players, five FDU Devils Hall of Famers (Steve Ferrante, Travis Fryzowicz, Ed Litsky, Tom Nieman and Andy Paulus) and two Players of the Year (Paulus and John Friday)
