Tina DeCrescenzo played both softball and field hockey. She had her most dominant season in softball as a junior in 1991. She batted .490 (47-for-96), driving in 45 runs. She also smacked nine doubles, six triples, and two home runs while striking out just twice all year. Her slugging percentage was .771 and her on-base percentage was .505.
As a senior in 1992, she batted .353 (30-for-85) with a team-leading 22 RBI. She had five doubles, two triples, and a home run while stealing four bases in four attempts. She batted .415 as a sophomore (47-for-113) while leading the team in doubles (12), triples (4), and home runs (4). She led the team with 32 RBI and also stole nine bases to tie for the team lead.
In her sophomore year, after an injury cut her freshmen season short after just three games, DeCrescenzo earned the Jersey Nine Athletic Association’s Rookie of the Year Award in 1990.
In field hockey, DeCrescenzo scored four goals and three assists as a senior in 1992. She had four goals and three assists as a junior as well. She also chipped in two goals as a sophomore.
After graduating, DeCrescenzo completed FDU’s paralegal program and now works as a Senior Paralegal in the Corporate Law Department of Schering Plough Corporation. DeCrescenzo-Schmidt resides in Mountainside with her husband Carl Schmidt and their two children, Jessica and Jayson.
