Shirey was a two-sport athlete for the Devils Athletics Department playing five seasons for the women's lacrosse program and four seasons for the field hockey program all from 2013-2018.
 
As a women's lacrosse athlete, she started all 84 of her games played. She is second all-time in career ground balls (207), caused turnovers (152) and tied for fourth in career draw controls (198). On the single-season program list, she is second in caused turnovers (58), sixth in ground balls (62) and eighth in draw controls (82). Shirey also amassed 175 points on 141 goals and 34 assists. She was named First Team IWLCA All-Region, MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Year, and First Team All-MAC her fifth year. She also added to her resume three Second Team All-MAC Freedom selections and helped guide the Devils to four MAC Freedom titles and three NCAA tournament playoff wins.
 
As a field hockey student-athlete, she started 70 of 84 appearances for FDU-Florham. During her playing career, she notched 15 points on six goals and three assists. Shirey helped the Devils field hockey team become Freedom Conference Champions (2014), two-time MAC Freedom Regular Season Champions, win an NCAA Playoff game (2014), and appear in two ECAC Semifinal games.
 
Shirey was also a NFHCA scholar athlete and a multi–MAC Academic Honor Roll recipient.
