Hall of Fame
Kyra Dayon played on the FDU-Florham women's basketball team from 2011-15 as one of the most prolific student-athletes the program and FDU-Florham has ever seen.
Â
A two-time All-American, two-time All-Region selection, three-time All-MAC Freedom honoree and two-time MAC Freedom Player of the Year, the 2013-14 Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year finished her career ranked first in field goals made (695) and steals (335), second in total points (1799) and rebounds (874) as well as fourth in free throws made (315) and fifth in three-pointers made (141). Dayon also holds the single season record for steals (110 in 2011-12) and ranks fourth in single season three-point percentage (40.7) and fifth in single season three-pointers made (58).
Â
Dayon, who in 2011-12 ranked fourth in all of Division III women's basketball in triple-doubles and seventh in steals per game, guided the Devils to three straight MAC Freedom Championships. In 2013-14, FDU-Florham went 33-0 en route to the program's and the institution's first NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championship title. That season, Dayon and the Devils hosted the first two weekends of the national tournament inside the Ferguson Recreation Center before taking off for the Final Four in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
Â
In the NCAA Tournament, FDU-Florham defeated Wells, Messiah, Baldwin Wallace, Montclair State, Tufts and Whitman to hoist the trophy. In six NCAA Tournament games, Dayon shot 35-for-83 from the floor, went 5-for-11 from behind the arc and posted 31 rebounds, 12 assists and seven steals. The following season, Dayon and the Devils made another deep run with an appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight.Â
Â
Under the direction of head coach Marc Mitchell, Dayon led the Devils in scoring three consecutive seasons and is one of just 18 student-athletes to eclipse the 1000-point mark for her career.Â
