Steve Petouvis ran for the FDU-Madison cross country team from 1966 through 1970 and served as captain from 1968-70. Over his career, Petouvis had an incredible 26 first place finishes in dual meets including 17 consecutive wins. After graduating from FDU, Petouvis served his country as a part of the US Army's 101 Airborne Division in Vietnam from 1970-71. A year later he became Manager of Human Resources at Diamond Shamrock Chemical Company, where he stayed until 1986. Following his tenure there, he became the Director of Human Resources at Western Industries Inc. Petouvis has continued to run after leaving FDU. He has completed nine marathons including New York City, Dallas and Jersey Shore. As a member of the US National Duathlon Team in 1988, he participated in 10K run, 40K bike, and 5K run event. He finished 19th in the world, and third on the USA team. Steve is married to Fran and has two sons, Greg, 23, and Dan, 21.
