Dennis Dawson played on the FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team from 1968-71 and currently ranks 21st all-time in career points with 124 and third all-time in single season assists with 40. At the time he graduated from FDU-Florham in 1971, Dawson's 124 points ranked fourth highest in program history. There have been 37 student-athletes including Dawson who have eclipsed 100 career points while at FDU-Florham.Â

As a junior in 1970, Dawson compiled 40 assists and was named an All-American. At that point he was just the 10th men's lacrosse student-athlete to earn All-America accolades. Under the direction of head coach Robert Shields, Dawson and the FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team put together 38 wins and hoisted the New York Metro Championship trophy at the conclusion of the 1969 season.

Prior to his time at FDU-Florham, Dawson served for the United States in Vietnam and came back to school after completing his line of service.
