Melissa (Francisco) Timochko played four years of volleyball and basketball. She was named Most Valuable Player of the basketball team all four years.
The name Melissa Francisco is peppered throughout the school’s women’s basketball record book. She ranks second on the all-time scoring list with 1,520 points. He 827 career rebounds rank third all-time, just 11 behind first place. Her 133 career blocks ranks second all-time. She made 685 career field goals, second all-time and just two out of first place. Her 211 field goals in 1994-96 ranks as the most ever and her 193 the year before ranks second. Her career free-throw percentage of .750 ranks second.
Her 465 points in 1994-1995 ranks as the fourth-best single season mark in the team’s history. Her single-season totals of 44 and 39 blocks rank fourth and fifth. In the 1996-97 season, she made 82.4 percent of her free throws, the best single season mark in school history.
She also holds the school’s single-game record for most field goals with 17.
In volleyball, she led the team in kills three times and ranked second in the other season. She led the team in aces in 1996 with 40 and in 1995 with 50. She also led the team in solo blocks three times.
Timochko lives in Allendale, NJ. She works as a school psychologist in Garfield and is working on her doctorate in that field at the Metropolitan campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University
