Hall of Fame
The 1989-90 Men's Basketball team under the direction of Head Coach Roger Kindel went 18-9 and advanced to the finals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament before earning an At-Large berth to the NCAA Tournament. The first basketball team in FDU history to make the NCAA Tournament, this squad featured two Hall of Fame players (Gary Garvin and Kevin Conway). At one point during the season, the Devils were ranked as high as eleventh in the polls in all of Division III. FDU went on the road in the MAC Tournament Finals and lost by four points, 68-64, at King's and played without two starters (Darrin Forchic and Jack Sullivan) in a 90-72 loss against Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Tournament. Other key contributors on the team were Steve Jackson, who served as the team's point guard, Jason Chambers and Lou Freeman. Many thanks also go out to Assistant Coach Nick DelTufo, Sports Information Director Tom Bonerbo, Equipment Director Jay Ashby, and Athletic Trainer Tom Wilkinson.
