The 2008 Devils set a new standard for the women's lacrosse program, winning the MAC Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time. The '08 squad set a then program record with 16 victories before having the mark broke in 2015.
 
After falling to TCNJ in the second game of the season, FDU rolled off nine consecutive wins. The Devils went unbeaten for a month straight, and were a perfect 8-0 in the MAC. After knocking off Lycoming in the MAC Semifinals, FDU topped Elizabethtown 15-14 to win the MAC Championship. Lindsey Specht totaled five goals in the championship game, while Christine Dunn stopped 13 shots in net.
 
The Devils headed to Maryland to take on #14 St. Mary's in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, and nearly came away with an upset victory. FDU led 8-7 at the break, but St. Mary's rebounded to take to take a two goal lead with just 6:07 left. Goals by Lindsey Parent and Kristen Schuster 44 seconds apart leveled the game at 14, but the hosts notched the game-winner with 3:45 left to take home the victory.
 
Amanda Wayne was tabbed at the MAC Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Boardwalk Region choice, while Specht was a First Team All-MAC and All-Boardwalk Region selection. Specht also became the first person in school history to be chosen for the North/South All-Star Team and also gained Third-Team womenslacrosse.com All-American accolades. Joining those two on the First Team was Jackie Gale. Laura Gambardello and Stefanie Sanzari were chosen Second Team All-MAC, as Adrienne Carr earned her first MAC Coach of the Year.
 
Wayne led FDU with 71 goals and 25 assists while also totaling 86 draw controls. Her 71 goals and 96 points are third on the single-season list, and the 86 draw controls are second. Specht and Gambardello each scored 50 goals or more, finishing with 65 points each.
