Hall of Fame
The 1997-98 Devils men’s basketball team finished the season with a 17-9 record, culminating in a NCAA Division III tournament appearance. The Devils were one of three MAC teams to make the NCAA tournament that season. The team dropped their opening round matchup 84-47 to Johns Hopkins University.
The Devils were led by forward Bill Timony who was named Freedom Conference Tri-Player of the Year, First Team All-Freedom Conference and Team MVP. Teammate Kevin Kretschy was named Second Team All-Freedom that season. Timony, Kretschy and Harry Vega are members of FDU 1,000 point-scoring club, ranking fourth, 15th, and 25th respectively.
