NEWTOWN, Pa. – MAC Executive Director Megan Morrison and the conference office announced the 2026 Softball Academic All-MAC Team Monday as a total of 10 student-athletes were recognized, including FDU-Florham pitcher
Sydney Grifone.
The Spring Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and in athletic competition during the 2026 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.
Grifone a psychology major from Vernon, N.J., was named the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Year, was an All-MAC Freedom First Team selection and was named All-Region IV Third Team. She was fifth in the MAC Freedom in ERA at 2.44 and was third in opponent batting average at .224. Grifone's 106 and 1/3 innings pitched were good for fourth and her 101 strikeouts were the top mark in the conference. She was named MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week twice.
Grifone was one of six FDU softball student-athletes to earn a 4.0 GPA in the Spring '26 semester. She was also one of five named CSC Academic All-District.
This is Grifone's first Academic All-MAC selection of her career.
