Softball's Season Ends at Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa. – The FDU-Florham softball team topped Stevens 6-4 in Game 4 of the MAC Freedom Championship Tournament, but then fell to Misericordia 8-4 in the semifinals Saturday afternoon.

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (vs Stevens) HOW IT HAPPENED
  • FDU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after a Wodecki RBI-single plated Reece. Stevens tied it in the top of the third with a running scoring double followed by an RBI-single from Isabela Lipsky to put the Ducks ahead 2-1. 
  • In the top of the fourth, Stevens took a 3-1 lead on an RBI-single from Emma Quattochi, but in the bottom half, Lambright singled home two runs to again knot the contest at 3-3. 
  • Following Lambright's single, the Devils regained their lead with a two-run single from Wodecki and an RBI-single from Fantozzi to give FDU a 6-3 lead. 
  • The Ducks threatened in the seventh as one run scored on a single from Isabelle Won. Then, a Ducks' ball up the middle led to a collision between FDU's shortstop and runner on second thus ending the game and giving the Devils a 6-4 win.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (vs Misericordia)
  • Reece, Olear, and Wodecki all went 2-for-4. 
  • Lambright went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Devils took an early 2-0 lead in the third as Lambright doubled to left to plate Olear and Reece. 
  • Wodecki later doubled to drive home Lambright followed by a Grace Capparelli RBI-single to score Wodecki and extend the FDU lead to 4-0. 
  • In the bottom of the third, the Cougars cut the Devils' lead to 4-2 and in the fifth made it a 4-3 game. 
  • Then in the sixth, Misericordia knotted the contest at four apiece, but the big blow came after a Casey Funesti grand slam put the Cougars up 8-4. 
GAME NOTES
  • Lambright tied the single season doubles record with 16.
