LOUISVILLE, Ky. – FDU-Softball senior
Sydney Grifone was named All-Region IV Third Team pitcher by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as the organization announced its All-Region teams Monday afternoon.
Grifone becomes just the second FDU-Florham softball player to be named All-Region by the NFCA, following
Erin Sinatra's selection a year ago.
The Vernon, N.J. native continues to add to her trophy case as she comes off a stellar senior season for the Devils. Grifone was named the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Year and was an All-MAC Freedom First Team selection. She was fifth in the MAC Freedom in ERA at 2.44 and was third in opponent batting average at .224. Grifone's 106 and 1/3 innings pitched were good for fourth and her 101 strikeouts were the top mark in the conference. She was named MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week twice.
This is the second consecutive year the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Year came from FDU after Sinatra was selected for the award last season. This was also the first time the Devils have had back-to-back seasons with an NFCA All-Region player since the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
