Sydney Grifone was named the 2026 MAC Freedom Softball Pitcher of the Year and the Devils coaching staff was named Co-Staff of the Year as the conference office announced this year's All-MAC Freedom teams.
Joining Grifone on First Team were both
Riley Signor and
Jada Lambright while
Mollie Reece was named Second Team.
Hailey Wodecki and
Kylee Berg were named Honorable Mention.
Grifone, a senior from Vernon, N.J. had a stellar season for the Devils in 2026. She was fifth in the MAC Freedom in ERA at 2.44 and was third in opponent batting average at .224. Grifone's 106 and 1/3 innings pitched were good for fourth and her 101 strikeouts were also the top mark in the conference. She was named MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week twice.
Signor and Lambright join Grifone as First Team selections after major offensive seasons from the backstop and first baseman. Signor, a junior from Media, Pa., led the Devils in home runs with four and was tied with
Abigail Rodriguez for the team lead in triples with three. She hit .330 with a .944 OPS and 22 RBI. Defensively, she tied her own season-high in runners caught stealing from 2024 with seven on the year. Lambright, a senior from Clifton Park, N.Y., led the Devils in hits with 51 for a .429 average and posted a 1.075 OPS. Lambright added 31 RBI and tallied 72 total bases on the year aided by her single season record of 16 doubles. She now owns the program record for all-time career doubles with 48.
Reece was FDU's lone Second Team selection as the senior from Woodlyn, Pa. batted .339 with 42 hits including five doubles and nine runs driven in. Among FDU's eight qualified hitters, Reece was tied with
Giulia Olear for the least number of strikeouts at seven. The Devils' starting shortstop went 13-for 18 in stolen bases and set the program record for stolen bases in a single game with five against Rochester Christian back on March 14.
Wodecki and Berg round out FDU's All-MAC selections. Wodecki, a sophomore from Southampton, Mass. played in all 38 games for the Devils as she tallied 28 hits and batted .277 with a .686 OPS. She had five doubles and knocked in 27 runs. In the field she posted a .929 fielding percentage at third base. Berg, a junior utility player from Bordentown, N.J. played in 25 games and hit .254 with a .731 OPS. She had 15 hits in 59 at bats with four doubles, one triple and eight RBI.
The 2026 FDU coaching staff led the Devils to their first back-to-back 20-win seasons since Hall of Fame coach Dante Fedeli won 20 or more games in four straight seasons from 2005 to 2008. FDU's 23 wins are the most for a Devils team since winning 23 games in 2013. Not counting the 12 losses from the COVID-19 season in 2020, FDU's 14 losses are the least number of losses in a season since 1999.
This is the second consecutive year FDU boasts the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Year and six All-MAC selections.
