NEWTOWN, Pa. – FDU-Florham softball senior
Sydney Grifone was named the MAC Freedom softball Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.
Grifone had a stellar week for the Devils. She tossed 13 total innings and sported a 1.08 ERA as she allowed just two runs on nine hits with two walks and 15 strikeouts.
The Vernon, N.J. native threw five and 2/3 innings in relief in an 8-5 win over Arcadia on Wednesday, April 1. She allowed just two hits and one walk with seven strikeouts. Then, Friday April 3, Grifone tossed a four-hit complete game shutout against Delaware Valley at home. She did not issue a single walk and struck out seven batters in a second consecutive appearance.
Grifone now leads the MAC Freedom in ERA (1.19), opponent average (.168), and punch outs (54). Grifone is also second in wins with eight.
The FDU-Florham softball team returns to action on Wednesday, April 8 as the Devils head to Montclair State for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch of Game 1is slated for 3 p.m.
