NEWTOWN, Pa. – FDU-Florham softball pitcher
Sydney Grifone was named the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 29, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.
Grifone, a Vernon, N.J. native was stellar this past week for the Devils as she helped lead FDU to a 4-0 week. She totaled 16 and 1/3 innings across her four appearances as she earned three wins and punched 21 tickets.
Against St. Joseph's LI, Grifone went six innings and allowed one run on just four hits with one walk and a season-high nine strikeouts.
Following her outing against the Golden Eagles, Grifone totaled eight and 1/3 innings against Lebanon Valley in FDU's doubleheader sweep of the Dutchmen and allowed three runs, only one earned, on four hits with seven strikeouts.
Grifone and the rest of the Devils are back in action on Wednesday, April 1 as FDU heads to Glenside, Pa. for a MAC Freedom doubleheader against the Arcadia Knights. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
