MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham athletics department and Director of Athletics Kristin Giotta are excited to announce new facilities updates and a potential critical project on the horizon that will strengthen the student-athlete experience for years to come.
FDU has made significant improvements at Robert T. Shields Field, home of the Devils football, field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse programs. The field was resurfaced, branding was updated, and drainage improvements were completed. The resurfacing provided the field with a necessary new synthetic turf that will help enhance
student-athlete performance on FDU's home field. The new branding provided updated colors and logos to the field's surface, showing off the university's vibrant blue and burgundy hues.
FDU is also looking forward to other improvements for athletics. Preliminary engineering has been approved on a site adjacent to Robert T. Shields Field to evaluate the space for a potential new softball facility. This preliminary engineering will enable FDU to assess the area and help determine if it is suitable to build on.
"We are continually looking for opportunities to strengthen all aspects of our athletics department and provide our student-athletes the best experience possible at the Division III level," Giotta said. "These improvements and plans continue that commitment, and we are excited to see the impact of these changes and other initiatives
that will provide an even brighter tomorrow for Devils athletics and our student-athletes."
This assessment of the ground in the area next to Shields paves the way for a substantial investment for the athletics program. This feasibility study will help properly evaluate the required regulatory permits and preliminary engineering of the project.
