Kenny Hands Selected to Compete in FCS National Bowl

Madison, NJ (December 9) – FDU-Florham graduate student defensive lineman Kenny Hands (Runnemede, NJ) has been selected to participate in the eighth annual FCS National Bowl in Daytona Beach, Florida at 11:00 am on Sunday, December 11, 2022.

The FCS National Bowl is an annual postseason college football all-star game consisting of the top players from college football FCS schools. The inaugural FCS National Bowl was played in December 2014 at FIU Stadium and moved to Daytona Beach Stadium in Daytona Beach, FL in 2016 which is home to FCS Bethune-Cookman Football. The National Bowl and FCS Bowl All-Star Weekend for Non-FBS schools has been the only games of its kind to attract numerous NFL & CFL scouts.

The game features players who have been on draft boards or scouting partner boards, and the game has been attended by the NFL, CFL, AFL, and NFL/CFL agents. The top 20 players selected from this bowl by NFL scouts will be invited to the Tropical Bowl in January. This bowl is the only one that gives the top FCS/DII/DIII players a direct path to play in a top FBS game.

Hands, who will wear #93 for the National-Blue team on Sunday, was recently named to the D3football.com All-Region I First Team and to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference (All-MAC) First Team.

Hands ranked first in the MAC and third in Division III football in tackles for a loss with 22.5 on the year and third in the conference in sacks with nine. The graduate student defensive lineman posted 55 total tackles with 34 solo and 21 assisted tackles in 2022. Hands also forced a pair of fumbles, recovered a fumble, posted 12 quarterback hurries and three pass breakups on the season.

The graduate student wrapped up his career with 157 total tackles, 24.0 sacks and 51 tackles for a loss for a total of 238 yards. His 24 career sacks rank second all-time in FDU-Florham football history only behind Mike Gibson (26.5) and Eric Kohler (25.0).

Hands and the FDU-Florham football team went 6-5 in 2022 and reached their second straight Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) James Lynah Bowl. This year marked the first time in program history that the Devils qualified for bowl games in back-to-back seasons and the first time since 1993 and 1994 that FDU-Florham produced winning records in consecutive seasons.
