DEVILS REPORT
FDU finished the regular season with a 19-17 mark, including an 8-6 record in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. The Devils narrowly missed the MAC Freedom Championship Tournament, falling one game short.
ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Senior
Taylor Torre picked up her third consecutive First Team All-MAC Freedom honor, while freshman pitcher
Linda Rizzo joined Torre on the First Team. Fellow rookie
Taylor Tobey gained an Honorable Mention nod in her first season at FDU.
SCOUTING PFEIFFER
The Falcons enter the game with a 35-5 overall record and boast a .365 batting average to go along with 46 home runs. Junior Vada Blue Sherrill leads the team with 65 hits, 16 home runs and 54 stolen bases while hitting .520. Junior Kiana Millsaps is 22-4 on the mound, striking out 68 in 119 1/3 innings.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
FDU has had three players claim MAC Freedom honors this season. Freshman
Abbey Scarengelli was named both MAC Freedom and ECAC Pitcher of the Week, while Rizzo claimed Pitcher of the Week honors from the MAC Freedom in addition to ECAC Rookie of the Week honors. Senior
Rebecca DeCarlo earned MAC Freedom Player of the Week honors, the first of her four-year career.
CENTURY MARK
The Devils saw DeCarlo and classmate
Michelle Mangini each recorded their 100th career hits during the season. DeCarlo collected hers in a 9-8 win over Westfield State in Florida on March 15, while Mangini registered hers in the season finale against Misericordia.
HALL OF FAME BOUND
Head Coach
Dante Fedeli is going to be inducted in the Connecticut Scholastic & Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame on May 20. Fedeli's softball career has spanned 42 years, beginning with Rippowam High School in his hometown of Stamford, Conn. From 1977 through 1990, he was the co-head coach of the Stamford Flames, a Class-A ASA fastpitch organization which included three Connecticut State and two New England Regional Championships.
MOVIN' ON UP
Torre is currently third on the program's hits list with 169 for her career and is one home run away from tying Wynne McCann's career mark of 25.
