Box Score 2 DOYLESTOWN, PA - The College at Florham Devils went on the road Sunday afternoon and swept a Freedom Conference doubleheader from Delaware Valley, winning the first game by a score of 4-2 before also taking the nightcap by a count of 14-0 in five innings.
With the sweep, the Devils are now 11-9 (6-2 Freedom) while the Aggies are 6-12 (0-6 Freedom).
GAME ONE - The Devils started the scoring right away with a run in the top of the first inning thanks to a Delaware Valley error. The Aggies came back with two in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 before FDU plated two in the top of the third to go back on top, 3-2, on another Aggie error and a RBI single from freshman outfielder
Nicole Decker. The Devils added one final insurance run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run from Decker to seal the victory.
Decker finished the game 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI while junior designated hitter
Brittni Wurst went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored. Senior pitcher
Karla Babb picked up the win on the mound, tossing seven innings and allowing two runs (both unearned) on six hits while striking out two.
GAME TWO - After two scoreless innings, FDU scored three runs in the top of the third thanks to a RBI single from Wurst, a RBI double by junior catcher
Sarah Lima and a RBI double by junior shortstop
Maggie Murphy. The Devils added three more in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by Lima and a RBI single from Murphy. FDU then blew the game open with eight runs in the top of the fifth on a RBI single from sophomore third baseman
Christina Legotti, an Aggie error, a RBI single by freshman outfielder
Jenna Appello, a RBI groundout from Wurst, a RBI fielder's choice by Lima, an Aggie error, and a two-run triple from senior pinch hitter
Brianne Conanan.
Lima finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and four RBI while Murphy went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Appello was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two run scored and a RBI, and Wurst went 1-for-2 with a stolen base, two runs scored and two RBI. Freshman pitcher
Sydney Worek got the win on the rubber, going five innings and allowing no runs on two hits while striking out eight.
