Box Score 2 MADISON, NJ - After holding off a late Wilkes rally to take Game One by a score of 8-7, the College at Florham Devils trailed by a count of 6-4 entering the bottom of the seventh in the nightcap. Junior second baseman
Kristie Crilley crushed a home run to make it 6-5 before junior catcher
Sarah Lima ripped a single to tie it at 6-6. In the bottom of the eighth Crilley came through again, this time with a walk-off double down the left field line to give the Devils a 7-6 win and the sweep of a Freedom Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
With the wins, the Devils improved to 15-13 (8-4 Freedom) while the Colonels dropped to 9-17 (2-6 Freedom). The sweep also clinched a spot for FDU in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament.
GAME ONE - The Devils started the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a RBI sacrifice bunt from junior shortstop
Maggie Murphy and a wild pitch. FDU made it 4-0 in the bottom of the second on a two-run error by the Colonels but Wilkes came back with a run in the top of the third to pull to within 4-1. The Colonels tied it at 4-4 in the top of the fourth but FDU got all three of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run double by freshman outfielder
Jenna Appello and a RBI single from Lima. Wilkes came back once more and tied it at 7-7 in the top of the sixth but the Devils went back on top, 8-7, in their half of the sixth on a Wilkes error. FDU got out of a minor jam in the top of the seventh to seal the victory.

Brittni Wurst finished the game 4-for-4 with four stolen bases and four runs scored while Appello went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI. Senior pitcher
Karla Babb notched the win on the mound, tossing seven innings and allowing seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits.
GAME TWO - Wilkes jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with all four runs in the top of the first inning before FDU cut it to 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a RBI double from sophomore third baseman
Christina Legotti and a Colonel error. The Devils cut it to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run from Crilley but Wilkes got that run back in the top of the sixth to take a 5-3 lead. FDU pulled to within 5-4 in their half of the sixth on a solo home run from Lima but Wilkes againt got that run back and took a 6-4 advantage in the top of the seventh. Crilley led off the seventh with a solo home run to make it 6-5 and Wurst followed with a single but she advanced to third on a two-base error from Wilkes. After two consecutive outs, Lima came up and drove Wurst in with a rocket single to center field to tie the game at 6-6. Wilkes got a runner on in the top of the eighth but FDU worked out of trouble to keep the game tied. With one out in the bottom of the eighth, freshman first baseman
Wynne McCann doubled but Wilkes got the next out which brought Crilley to the plate with two outs. After belting two home runs earlier in the game, Crilley came through with a walk-off double down the left field line to give FDU a 7-6 victory and the sweep.
Crilley finished the game 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, two runs scored and three RBI while Lima went 2-for-2 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI. McCann banged out three hits while Wurst tallied two hits, a stolen base and a run scored. Freshman pitcher
Sydney Worek picked up the win, going eight innings and allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at home against cross-town rival Drew beginning at 3 pm.
