Box Score 2 HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - The College at Florham Devils split a non-conference doubleheader with Centenary on Wednesday afternoon, winning the first game by a score of 6-4 before dropping the nightcap by a count of 4-0.
With the split, the Devils are now 6-6 while the Cyclones are 3-5.
GAME ONE - FDU started the scoring right away by scoring three runs in the top of the first on a RBI single by junior shortstop
Maggie Murphy, a Cyclone error and a RBI groundout by junior third baseman
Kristie Crilley. Centenary came right back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first but the Devils went back on top, 5-3, in the top of the fourth thanks to a two-run home run from freshman first baseman
Wynne McCann. FDU took a 6-3 lead in the top of the sixth on a RBI double from McCann and although Centenary cut it to 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh, the Devils held off the rally to pick up the win.
McCann finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a run scored and three RBI wile junior catcher
Sarah Lima went 3-for-3 with a run scored. Senior pitcher
Karla Babb picked up the win on the mound, tossing seven innings and allowing four runs (one earned) on nine hits while striking out four.
GAME TWO - The Cyclones did all the damage in the nightcap in the first inning, scoring all four runs in the bottom of the first. The Devils could only muster three hits in the second game, allowing Centenary to pick up the split.
Freshman pitcher
Sydney Worek suffered the loss, going six innings and allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out 10.
The Devils return to action on Friday, March 29, 2013, at home against Manhattanville beginning at noon.
