Devils Split With Misericordia

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils split a Freedom Conference doubleheader with Misericordia on Tuesday afternoon, losing the first game by a score of 2-0 before rebounding to win the nightcap by a margin of 5-1.

With the split, the Devils are now 10-8 (2-2 Freedom) while the Cougars are 15-9 (4-2 Freedom).

GAME ONE - Misericordia scored both of their runs in the top of the first inning and held the Devils without a base-runner until there was one out in the sixth inning.

Senior pitcher Megan McInaw was the hard-luck loser, tossing seven innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out 11.

GAME TWO - The Cougars again started the scoring in the top of the first with a run before FDU made it 2-1 in the bottom of the second on a two-run triple from junior pitcher Karla Babb.  The Devils tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a RBI single by McInaw and a RBI single from sophomore outfielder Brittni Wurst.  FDU put up one more run in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a RBI single by McInaw to seal the win.

McInaw finished the game 3-for-3 with a run scored and a two RBI while Wurst went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and a RBI.  Babb picked up the win on the mound, throwing seven innings and allowing one run on six hits while striking out five.

The Devils return to action on Friday, April 6, 2012, at Manhattanville beginning at noon.
