Devils Swept By King's

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WILKES-BARRE, PA - The College at Florham Devils lost both games of a Freedom Conference doubleheader to King's, 3-2 and 10-2 (6), on Saturday afternoon.

With the losses, the Devils dropped to 13-17 (4-10 Freedom) while the Monarchs improved to 28-10 (10-4 Freedom).

GAME ONE - FDU started the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning on a RBI double from senior pitcher Megan McInaw but King's came right back with two runs in their half of the first.  The Devils tied it at 2-2 in the top of the third thanks to a RBI single by McInaw and the game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning.  King's got the leadoff runner on and sacrificed her over to second base where she scored the game-winning run on a single by the next batter.

McInaw finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI while sophomore outfielder Brittni Wurst went 2-for-4 with a run scored.  McInaw suffered the loss on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out eight.

GAME TWO - King's got a run in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the third to grab a quick 3-0 lead.  FDU trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the fifth on a two-run single from freshman shortstop Jackie Gioia but King's responded with six runs in their half of the fifth inning.  The Monarchs then put the game away with a run in the bottom of the sixth to pick up the sweep.

Senior outfielder Brianne Faynor went 3-for-3 for the Devils while junior pitcher Karla Babb suffered the loss on the mound, going five innings and allowing nine runs on nine hits.

The Devils return to action on Sunday, April 29, 2012, with their season finale against Staten Island beginning at noon.
