Box Score 2 MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils split a doubleheader with Kean on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action, winning the first game by a score of 3-2 in eight innings before losing the nightcap by a margin of 7-3.
With the split, the Devils are 13-13 on the season.
GAME ONE - The Devils got on the board in bottom of the first inning on a RBI single from senior pitcher
Megan McInaw but the Cougars came back to tie it at 1-1 in the top of the fifth. The game then went into extra innings and playing with the International Tie-Breaker Rule, Kean scored a run in the top of the eighth inning to grab a 2-1 lead. The Devils loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning and junior first baseman
Elizabeth Spiller came up with a two-run walk-off single to give FDU the win.
Sophomore outfielder
Brittni Wurst finished the game 3-for-4 while McInaw went 2-for-3 with a RBI. McInaw also got the win on the mound, tossing eight innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on nine hits while striking out seven.
GAME TWO - FDU again started strong, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a RBI fielder's choice by McInaw, a Kean error and a RBI single by sophomore catcher
Sarah Lima. The Cougars came back with six runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to grab a 7-3 lead while holding the FDU bats at bay for the remainder of the game.
Senior third baseman
Megan Golembiewski went 2-for-4 while junior pitcher
Karla Babb suffered the loss, throwing 3.1 innings and allowing four runs on seven hits.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at home against Delaware Valley beginning at 11 am.
