Devils Split With DeSales

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils split a Freedom Conference doubleheader with DeSales on Sunday afternoon, losing the first game by a score of 7-4 before rebounding to win the nightcap by a margin of 9-1 in five innings.

With the split, the Devils are now 9-7 (1-1 Freedom) while the Bulldogs are 7-13 (3-1 Freedom).

GAME ONE - DeSales started the scoring right away, posting three runs in the top of the first inning before the Devils cut it to 3-2 in the bottom of the third on a RBI single by sophomore catcher Sarah Lima and a RBI fielder's choice from senior third baseman Megan Golembiewski.  The Bulldogs opened things up in the top of the sixth with a grand slam to make it 7-2 but the Devils came back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh thanks to two Bulldog errors.  FDU had the tying run at the plate with two outs but DeSales got out of the jam to earn the win.

Lima finished the game 3-for-4 with a RBI while senior outfielder Ronica Sorice went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.  Senior pitcher Megan McInaw suffered the loss, tossing seven innings and allowing seven runs on seven hits.

GAME TWO - It was FDU's turn to get on the board in the first inning, as the Devils plated three in the bottom of the first on a RBI double from junior shortstop Christine Antoniotti, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly by Golembiewski.  The Devils then tacked on four more in the bottom of the second thanks to a two-run double by Antoniotti, a wild pitch, and a RBI single from McInaw.  DeSales got on te board with a run in the top of the fifth but the Devils ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with two runs on a wild pitch and a RBI fielder's choice from Antoniotti.

Antoniotti finished the game 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI while sophomore outfielder Brittni Wurst went 3-for-3 with a stolen base and three runs scored.  McInaw was 2-for-3 with a RBI while Sorice went 2-for-2 with a run scored.  Junior pitcher Karla Babb earned the win, going five innings and allowing one run on four hits.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at home against Misericordia beginning at 3 pm.
