Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FL - The College at Florham Devils split the final two games of their Florida Spring Break Trip on Friday afternoon, beating Wesleyan by a score of 8-6 before falling to Bowdoin by a count of 7-2.
With the split, the Devils come north with a record of 5-3.
WESLEYAN - The Devils got things going in the top of the second with two runs on a RBI double by freshman outfielder
Sam Trotta. FDU made it 3-0 in the top of the third thanks to a wild pitch before Wesleyan scored one in the third and three in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. The Devils came right back in the top of the sixth with five runs on an error, a RBI single from senior outfielder
Ronica Sorice, a RBI single by junior first baseman
Elizabeth Spiller, and two more Wesleyan errors. Wesleyan cut it to 8-6 in the bottom of the seventh but the Devils were able to get out of the jam and pick up the win.
Trotta finished the game 1-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI while Sorice went 3-for-4 with a stolen base, two runs scored and a RBI. Senior pitcher
Megan McInaw picked up the win, tossing seven innings and allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits.
BOWDOIN - FDU dropped the final game of their trip to Bowdoin by a score of 7-2. Junior pitcher
Karla Babb suffered the loss, going one inning and allowing six runs (one earned) on four hits. Junior pitcher
Brianne Conanan came on in relief to throw five innings while allowing one unearned run on five hits.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, with their home opener against Stevens beginning at 3 pm.
