DALLAS, PA - The College at Florham Devils were swept by Misericordia in a key Freedom Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, 7-1 and 4-1. FDU is now tied with DeSales for first place in the conference and the top seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament will be based on tiebreakers.
With the losses, the Devils dropped to 13-16 (9-5 Freedom) while the Cougars improved to 19-15 (8-6 Freedom).
GAME ONE - Misericordia scored two in the first and five in the fourth to jump out to a 7-0 lead. Sophomore first baseman
Elizabeth Spiller got the Devils on the board with a RBI single in the fifth but that was all FDU could muster.
Junior pitcher
Megan McInaw suffered the loss on the mound, going four innings while allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits.
GAME TWO - The Devils got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning on a RBI double by McInaw but the Cougars scored two apiece in the fourth and fifth innings to pull out the sweep.
Sophomore pitcher
Karla Babb took the loss, tossing five innings and allowing four runs on six hits while striking out five.
The Devils return to action on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at home for Senior Day against Staten Island beginning at 12 pm.
