Devils Split With Stevens

HOBOKEN, NJ - The College at Florham Devils split a doubleheader with Stevens on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.  In Game One, the Devils won by a score of 4-1 before losing Game Two by a count of 4-1.

With the split, the Devils now stand at 2-8 on the season.

GAME ONE - FDU got on the board first in the top of the second inning with a run on a Stevens error.  The Ducks tied it at 1-1 in the fourth before the Devils plated three in the top of the sixth thanks to a two-run home run by junior third baseman Megan Golembiewski and a pinch hit solo home run from senior Brianne Faynor.  The Devils only scratched out four hits while two of them coming by way of junior pitcher Megan McInaw.  McInaw also picked up the win on the mound, going seven innings while allowing one run on two hits with nine strikeouts.

GAME TWO - Stevens got a run in the fourth, a run in the fifth, and two runs in the sixth to grab a 4-0 advantage before FDU got on the board in the top of the seventh on a RBI single by Golembiewski but that was all the Devils could muster in the 4-1 loss.  FDU had only three hits in the second game, with two of them coming from Golembiewski who also suffered the loss on the mound.  She went 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Centenary beginning at 3 pm.
