Devils Swept By Misericordia

MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were swept by Misericordia, 7-1 and 7-5, on Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference action.

With the losses, the Devils dropped to 8-16 (2-6 Freedom) while the Cougars improved to 11-10 (5-3 Freedom).

GAME ONE - FDU jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a RBI single by freshman second baseman Christine Antoniotti (Glen Cove, NY/Kellenberg).  The Cougars though, came back with three runs in the fifth and four runs in the seventh for the win.

Sophomore pitcher Megan McInaw (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs (one earned) on eight hits in 6.2 innings.

GAME TWO - Misericordia plated six runs in the second and one run in the third to grab a 7-0 advantage.  The Devils fought back with two runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Antoniotti and McInaw to make it 7-2 and three runs in the sixth thanks to a RBI fielder's choice by freshman outfielder Brianne Conanan (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) and a two-run double by sophomore outfielder Ronica Sorice (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) that made it 7-5.  That was as close as FDU would come though as they couldn't push across any more runs.

McInaw finished three hits while senior first baseman Christine Heyl (Avon, NJ/St. Rose) had two hits.  Sophomore pitcher Megan Golembiewski (Beacon, NY/Beacon) took the loss, allowing seven runs (two earned) on four hits in three innings.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at home against Drew beginning at 3 pm.
