MADISON, NJ - Down 2-1 with a runner on second base in the bottom of the 10th inning, sophomore designated hitter
Megan McInaw (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) drilled a two-run home run to give the College at Florham Devils a 3-2 victory over Delaware Valley in Freedom Conference action on Sunday afternoon. The Aggies won the first game by a score of 5-2.
With the split, the Devils are now 6-12 (1-3 Freedom) while the Aggies are 7-8 (1-3 Freedom).
GAME ONE - The Devils scored a run each in the first two innings to grab a 2-0 lead on a wild pitch and a RBI single by sophomore outfielder
Ronica Sorice (Belleville, NJ/Belleville). Delaware Valley came back with four in the top of the third and one in the top of the seventh to earn the win.
McInaw took the loss on the mound, going four innings and allowing four runs on four hits while walking seven.
GAME TWO - FDU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by junior catcher
Brianne Faynor (Cliffwood, NJ/Brookdale CC) but the Aggies tied it at 1-1 in the fifth. Playing under the International Tie-Breaker Rule in the 10th inning, Delaware Valley struck first and took a 2-1 lead. FDU held though, allowing McInaw to come through with her heroics.
Sophomore pitcher
Megan Golembiewski (Beacon, NY/Beacon) tossed a gem, going 9.1 innings and allowing one run (unearned) on six hits while striking out six. Unfortunately, she didn't pick up the win as that went to freshman pitcher
Karla Babb (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John) who tossed the last 0.2 innings.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Centenary beginning at 3 pm.
