CLERMONT, FL - The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Wisconsin-Whitewater, 7-1, before beating Carleton, 5-1, on the final day of their Florida Spring Break Trip on Saturday afternoon.
With the split, the Devils now stand at 3-9.
WISCONSIN-WHITEWATER - Whitewater got out to an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. FDU cut it to 2-1 in the top of the fourth on a bases loaded walk by senior shortstop
Marysa Cole (Washington Township, NJ/Westwood). Whitewater however, responded with two runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to put the game away.
Sophomore pitcher
Megan Golembiewski (Beacon, NY/Beacon) suffered the loss, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits in 4.2 innings.
CARLETON - The Devils started early in the games with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Carleton tied it at 1-1 in the top of the second but FDU got that run right back in the bottom of the second. The Devils plated three runs in the third to pull away for the win.
Sophomore pitcher
Megan McInaw (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) tossed 7.0 innings, allowing one run (unearned) on two hits while striking out seven. Cole had a hit and drove in two runs while freshman infielder
Renee Migliacci (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Regional) had a RBI single.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, with a their home opener against Stevens beginning at 3 pm.
