Wilkes-Barre, PA (March 22)- The FDU-Florham Men's Track and Field team opened its 2025 spring season at the Monarch Invite, hosted by King's, and completed the meet with numerous accomplishments including personal records, top 10 times, and two school records.
Kicking off the outdoor season was the 100m dash as
Nathaniel Evely (Bogota, NJ) led the Devils and took 2
nd overall with an 11.87 mark. Making his debut on the track was
Richie Welton (Middletown, NJ) as he claimed 3
rd in the event (12.38) and
Lucas Sorrentino (Staten Island, NY) closed the placements for FDU with 4
th overall.
Evely, Welton, and Sorrentino also competed in the 200m dash along with
Francisco Tanez (West Orange, NJ). The four representatives in the event dominated as Evely captured his first event win of the season with a time of 24.14. Welton (25.17), Sorrentino (25.20), and Tanez (25.62) followed suit taking the 2
nd, 3
rd, and 4
th placements.
Taking their marks in the 400m was
Nathaniel Perrelli ( Fanwood, NJ) and
Luke Passarelli (Brick, NJ) who also amassed noticeable marks during the finals of the event. Perrelli claimed the Devil's second event win of the day with a time for 53.34 for first and Passarelli took 2
nd overall with a collegiate best time of 55.09.
In their first time participating in the event,
Shane Breedlove (Richmond, VA) and
Norbert Martinez (Roxbury, NJ) jumped over and crossed the line in the 400m hurdles for a time of 1:06.25 for 2
nd overall and a time of 1:11.91 for 3
rd overall.
The lone Devil to represent and make his appearance for the first time this season was
Kyle Savannah who gave of a performance of 2:27.12 in the 800m dash for 9
th place.
Some of the Devils who went the distance during the 1500m was
Evan McGinnity,
Beckett Burcat (Basking Ridge, NJ), and Savannah. All crossed the finish line before the 5-minute mark but it was McGinnity who represented first for the Devils by taking 5
th with a time of 4:43.10. Burcat's performance resulted in 6
th with a time of 5:53.82 and Savannah round out the event with an 8
th place finish and a time of 4:57.39.
The final distance event for the Devils was the 5000m (5k) and
Emmanuel Torode (Roxbury, NJ) not only represented FDU alone but did so in style capturing his first event win with a time of 17:27.05.
Seen in the 4x100m was Welton, Evely, Perrelli, Presley who had a combined time of 44.50 which placed them as the 2
nd best team in the event for the day. A quartet of Passarelli, Breedlove, Martinez, and Sorrentino took 4
th in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:49.05.
Highlighting the meet for the Devils senior
Joseph Teresi (Ocean Twp, NJ) who not only captured two PR's in the Discus and Shot Put, but notched two school records. His throw of 39.85m in the Discus placed him 2
nd overall, while his throw of 14.33m in the Shot Put won the event.
FDU-Florham will prepare for the Ramapo Invitational that is being held on Friday, March 28 to Saturday, March 29 for its next chance to compete. Events are set to start at 3pm on Friday.
