Women's Swimming Dominates King's, 143-14

Wilkes-Barre, PA (October 19) – The FDU-Florham women's swimming team (3-0) dominated the King's Monarchs (0-7) pool with a first-place finish in every event they competed in, resulting in the 143-14 point win.
 
Jessica Mooney (Cranford, N.J.) was the lone athlete to compete in the 1000 free as she claimed all of the points with a time of 12:22.36. She was also seen in the 100 backstroke and pushed herself to claim second place with a time of 1:08.86.

 Katelyn Plank (Bridgewater, N.J.) swam in the 50 free for her first event of the meet and was able to go 1-1 on first place with a 3-second difference from second place (27.49). She also claimed another first-place finish in the 100 free with an exact time of 56.00.
 
Magda Konopka (Paramus, NJ) started her day in the pool with a solo victory in the 100 fly (1:04.79) and kept the momentum flowing in the 100 breaststroke with a first-place finish (1:13.08).

Olivia Glenfield (Howell, NJ) touched the wall in the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.52 for first place and also claimed a second victory in the 100 backstroke with a clocked time of 1:05.64.

Brynn Kelly (Pequannock, NJ) claimed third in the 200 free after seeing an 18-second gap from the top time (2:32.77) but managed to pull out a first-place victory in the 500 free (6:45.79).

Junior Lauren Stone (Middletown, NJ) came close to a first-place finish in the 50 free (27.49) but took second to her teammate. She stood second in the 100 breaststroke as well with a time of 1:19.45.

Caitlyn Karmaritsch (Roxbury, NJ) saw a first-place victory in the 200 free when she opened a 12-second gap between herself and second place (2:14.01), but was three seconds behind in the 100 breaststroke for third (1:11.44).

Gosia Swat (North Cadwell, NJ) competed in the 50 free but did not score any points for the Devils as she came in seventh with a time of 30.47. She managed to bounce back and take fifth in the 100 free after a performance of 1:15.18.

Ashley Smith (Tinton Falls, NJ) was off to the races with her teammate in the 50 free as she was 0.08 seconds behind second place (27.57). The sophomore also put down a time of 59.96 in the 100 free for second place.

Shalma Lopez (Union City, NJ) found herself in second place in the 200 free (2:26.15) and in sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:14.77).

Eve Amalfitano (Brigantine, NJ) made her collegiate debut in the 50 free with a time of 34.31 for eighth place and also touched the wall in the 200 free with a sixth-place finish of 1:19.19.

Olivia Case (Cream Ridge, NJ) competed in the 200 IM and took second with an overall time of 2:27.74, as well as a third-place finish in the 100 free (1:00.26).

Naia McGinn (Pleasant Borough, NJ) made her mark on the meet with a third-place finish in the 200 IM (2:51.68) and an eighth-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:28.57).

Isabel Thierman (Belmar, NJ) cut through the water with a time of 1:17.46 in the 100 backstroke for seventh and finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:29.83.
 
The Devils were able to form a relay team to compete in the 200 medley which consisted of Plank, Stone, Case, and Konopka who put together a time of 1:57.38. The next relay consisted of Glenfield, Smith, Karmaritsch, and Mooney who won first with a time of 1:50.78 in the 200 free. A second team was able to be formed in the same event but consisted of Lopez, Thierman, Swat, and Kelly who pulled out a 2:05.71 for second place.

 
FDU-Florham will recover and improve before returning to the pool on Saturday, November 16 for their next meet at Messiah.
