Madison, N.J (January 21) – The FDU-Florham women's swimming team upended MAC foe King's (Pa.), 151-19 in their final dual meet of the season on Sunday afternoon.
Sarah Dougherty (Kinnelon, N.J.), Jessica Mooney (Cranford, N.J.) and
Julianna Fazzio (Glassboro, N.J.) each led the way with each of them collecting a pair of individual wins. Dougherty collected a personal-best time of 1:01.21 in the 100 back and won the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.25. Mooney won both the 500 free (5:56.29) and 1000 free (12:17.67) while Fazzio collected first-place finishes in the 100 fly (1:02.53) and the 100 breast (1:14.16).
Katelyn Plank (Bridgewater, N.J.) and
Magda Konopka (Paramus, N.J.) both competed in the 50 free and the 100 free with both of them earning a first and second place finish. Konopka placed first in the 50 free with a time of 25.57 that was followed by Plank who clocked a 25.61. The roles reversed in the 100 free when Plank touched the wall first with a time of 55.97 that was followed by Konopka who clocked a 57.98.
Lauren Stone (Middletown, N.J.) also found an individual win in today's meet in the 200 free when she finished first with a time of 2:08.87. She also placed third in the 100 breast with a time of 1:20.88.
Riley Signor (Melody, Pa.) and
Brynn Kelly (Pequannock, N.J.) both earned two second place finishes in the meet. Signor touched the wall second in both the 100 breast (1:18.55) and the 200 IM (2:37.70) which was a personal-best time while Kelly placed second in the both the 100 fly (1:17.69) and the 500 free (6:51.61).
Ashley Smith (Tinton Falls, N.J.) also placed second in an event today in the 200 free with a personal-best time of 2:11.17.
The Devils also fielded three relay teams today. The 800 free relay team of Plank, Fazzio, Dougherty and Konopka collected a first place time of 8:15.54. The Devils also saw two 200 medley relay teams. The quartet of Mooney, Signor, Kelly and Stone notched first place with a team time of 2:11.16 while the medley unit of
Naia McGinn (Point Pleasant Borough, N.J.), Isabel Thierman (Belmar, N.J.), Smith and
Abigail Franco (New Providence, N.J.) placed second with a team time of 2:23.65.
FDU-Florham will now have a few weeks to prepare before heading to York, Pa. for the MAC Championship that will start on Thursday, February 15.
