Madison, N.J (January 18) – The FDU-Florham women's swimming team hosted fellow MAC school Stevenson on Thursday afternoon and took care of business as the team as they defeated the Mustangs, 119-75.
Both
Sarah Dougherty (Kinnelon, N.J.) and
Magda Konopka (Paramus, N.J.) led the way for the Devils as each earned two first-place wins during the meet. Dougherty took first in both the 100 breast (1:10.98) and the 400 IM (4:51.16) while Konopka touched the wall first in the 100 free (57.13) and the 200 free (2:03.38). Dougherty bested her seed time in the 100 breast by two seconds.
FDU also saw individual wins from
Julianna Fazzio (Glassboro, N.J.), Jessica Mooney (Cranford, N.J.) and
Katelyn Plank (Bridgewater, N.J.). Fazzio found her win in the 100 fly (1:02.60), Mooney in the 500 free (5:54.24) and Plank in the 50 free (26.17). Fazzio and Mooney both also placed second in individual events with Fazzio touching second in the 200 free with a time 2:06.77 that bested her seed time of 2:07.43 while Mooney touched second in the 1000 free with a time of 12:09.32. Plank also competed in the 100 back and clocked a time of 1:20.63 that placed fourth.
Lauren Stone (Middletown, N.J.) and
Riley Signor (Melody, Pa.) both had identical meets with a second place and fourth place finishes. Stone finished second in the 50 free (26.91) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:19.94) while Signor placed second in the 100 breast (1:18.27) and fourth in the 100 fly (1:10.87).
The Devils also had a great showing in both relay events during the meet. The quartet of Dougherty, Signor,
Brynn Kelly (Pequannock, N.J.) and Stone outswam Stevenson in the 200 medley relay by about five seconds when they finished with an overall team time of 2:04.27. The Devils also fielded two 200 free relay teams where the makeup of Plank, Konopka, Fazzio and
Ashley Smith (Tinton Falls, N.J.) outswam the competition with a time of 1:44.96 while the team of Mooney,
Isabel Thierman (Belmar, N.J.), Kelly and
Naia McGinn (Point Pleasant Borough, N.J.) placed third with a team time of 2:03.85.
FDU-Florham gets set for their final dual meet of the season as the team hosts MAC foe King's (Pa.) on Sunday, January 21 for an 11:00am meet.
