Annapolis, Md. (February 24) – FDU-Florham women's swimming first-year
Katelyn Plank (Bridgewater, NJ) broke the school record in the 50-free three different times and the 200-free relay squad broke the program record on the first day of the 2023 ECAC Championship held at the United States Naval Academy.
As a team, the women's program sits in 12th place with 29 points through one day of the championship meet.
Plank first broke the 50-free record as the leadoff swimmer in the 200-free relay with a mark of 25.16-seconds. The first-year alongside
Sarah Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ),
Julianna Fazzio (Glassboro, NJ) and
Magda Konopka (Paramus, NJ) qualified for finals tonight with a prelim swim of 1:40.97.
Plank then reset the 50-free record in her individual swim with a time of 25.01-seconds as she finished 36th overall. The first-year returned tonight for finals with the 200-free relay clocked a leadoff split of 24.82-seconds en route to the school record with a final time in the relay of 1:40.15 for tenth overall.
S. Dougherty individually finished 25th in the 200-IM in 2:13.14, while
James Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ) took 34th in the 200-IM in 2:02.77.
Emma Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ), S. Dougherty, Fazzio and Plank clocked a 4:09.01 in the prelims of the 400-medley relay this morning and shaved nearly two seconds off their time tonight for a tenth place finish in 4:07.45.
Tomorrow, the Devils will have entries in the 200-medley relay, the 100-breast and 100-back on day two of the ECAC Championship. Prelims begin at 10:00 am and finals begin at 6:00 pm.
