Glenside, Pa. (January 20) – FDU-Florham women's swimming senior
Sarah Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ) broke the school record in the 200-breast in tonight's dual meet at Arcadia University. As a team, the Devils fell by a 160-92 final.
Dougherty's first place swim in the 200-breast with a time of 2:34.61 broke her own school record from a season ago and ranks eighth best in the conference. Dougherty also individually finished third in the 100-back (1:03.14) in addition to her second place finish alongside
Emma Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ),
Julianna Fazzio (Glassboro, NJ) and
Liz Briles (Glassboro, NJ) in the 200-medley relay (1:59.39) as well as her second place finish in the 800-free relay (8:35.33) alongside
Katelyn Plank (Bridgewater, NJ),
Magda Konopka (Paramus, NJ) and E. Dougherty.
Konopka individually picked up two event wins in the 200-free (2:03.54) and the 200-IM (2:23.69), while Fazzio won the 200-fly in 2:21.75, the seventh fastest time in the MAC, and the 100-fly in 1:02.85. Plank had a strong day in the pool as she touched the wall second in the 50-free (25.82), second in the 100-fly (1:04.85) and third in the 100-free (58.23).
E. Dougherty individually won the 200-back in 2:23.43 and finished fourth in the 100-back in 1:05.98, while
Paige Strangeway (Green Township, NJ) finished second in the 200-breast (2:48.00) and fourth in the 100-breast (1:18.47).
Jessica Mooney (Cranford, NJ), who teamed up with Strangeway,
Brynn Kelly (Pequannock, NJ) and
Emily Maciejewski (Wall, NJ) in the 200-medley relay for fourth place, also finished third in the 200-back in 2:30.74 and sixth in the 100-back in 1:08.77. Kelly finished sixth in both the 100-breast (1:28.00) and the 100-fly (1:15.22), while Maciejewski took seventh in the 50-free (28.44).
Sarah Jurimas (Delran, NJ) rounded out the highlights for the Devils as she touched the wall fourth in the 500-free (6:10.24) and sixth in the 50-free (27.98).
FDU-Florham will return to the pool tomorrow afternoon for a Senior Day meet against Western Connecticut State University and Felician University beginning at 12pm in the Ferguson Recreation Center. The Devils will honor Briles, E. Dougherty, S. Dougherty, Jurimas, Maciejewski and Strangeway during their meet.
