MADISON, NJ (March 4, 2021)- FDU Florham Director of Athletics,
Jenn Noon announces the hiring of Iavana Parker as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Devils Athletics. Parker will assist Head Athletic Trainer,
Jesse Boyland and Assistant Athletic Trainer, Lauren Michel, with all 19 varsity sports.
Â
"Iavana is a great Athletic Trainer, and it was an easy decision to add her to our team, " Explained Boyland. "She will help us grow as a department and give the best care to all of our student athletes; we are very happy to have her on board."
Â
Iavana graduated from Kean University in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training. After completing her undergrad degree, Parker graduated from KU with her Master's Degree in Exercise Science in the 2019.
Â
This is not the first Parker to spend time on the Florham Campus however, with Iavana's father being a member of the FDU Football coaching staff during the 1980's. "I'm beyond excited to join the Devils family here at FDU," Parker said. "Not just for myself, but for my own family as well, since my dad coached football here back in the 80s. It's a full circle moment for us, so I'm happy to be in a place where my dad left some history."
Â
Prior to following her father's footsteps and becoming a Devils, Iavana was the Head Athletic Trainer at Cazenovia High School in Cazenovia, NY. There, she oversaw 25 men's and women's programs competing for the Lakers. Before her stint at CHS, Parker was the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Premier Sports Medicine.
Â
She began her career as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at her Alma Mater, Kean. As the GA Athletic Trainer, Iavana assisted the training staff with all 14 of the Cougars varsity sports, while completing her Master's Degree.
