RESULTS
MADISON, N.J. (January 14, 2017) - The FDU men's swim team earned its first dual meet win of the year, topping Lebanon Valley 137.5-111.5 Saturday.
The women's team dropped a 145-81 decision, also to Lebanon Valley.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
Samantha Irace picked up three wins (1,000 yard free, 500 free and the 200 yard backstroke), while
Mackenzie Doherty was tops in the 200-free (2:08.82), 100 yard backstroke (1:17.79) and the 200 breaststroke (2:43.81). Irace turned in a time of 11:51.24 in the 1.000 free and bested the field by nearly five seconds in the 200 back.
Sarah Bennett also took first in a trio of events, turning in times of 27.25 in the 50-free, 58.27 in the 100 free and 1:06.89 in the 100 butterfly.
MEN'S RESULTS
The Devils opened the afternoon with a 200 medley relay with the quartet of
Bohdan Semak,
Stephen O'Brien, Nick DiBenedetto and
Connor Zero won the event in 1:48.95. DiBenedetto came back in the next event won the 1,000 free, recording a time of 11:03.98. Semak continued to have one of the finer seasons in Devil swimming history, taking first in the 200 free with a mark of 1:51.00. Zero and
Jurgen Troka each claimed top-4 finishes in the event.
O'Brien,
Justin Cole and
Favian Nguyen each finished in the top-4 in the 100 breaststroke, and DiBenedetto placed second in the 200 fly, notching a mark of 2:19.31. Semak and
Craig Bucsak went 1-3 in the 50 free, and Semak came back to win the 100 free with a time of 51.18. O'Brien picked up first in the 2:28.77, with Zero claiming first in the 500 free to close out winners for the Devils.
