SAAC Raises Nearly $1,200 at Polar Plunge

MADISON, N.J. – Last Saturday, February 20, the Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham swim team represented the University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at the 2016 Polar Plunge in Seaside Heights, N.J.

The plungers raised $1,190 for Special Olympics New Jersey by participating in the event, which is in its 23rd installment.

In total, more than 6,000 participants took a dip in the Atlantic Ocean and raised $1.7M for Special Olympics New Jersey.  The organization provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in 24 Olympic-type sports for more than 25,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Mother nature was extremely cooperative this year as the unseasonably warm temperatures hovered around 60 degrees, while the water temperature was near 40 degrees.

The FDU-Florham SAAC participates in several events throughout the calendar year to raise money for different causes.  The student-athletes is scheduled to take part in Read Across America next week.
