WAYNE, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham women's swim team dropped a close 63-78 decision to William Paterson University on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Junior
Samantha Irace won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a dominating 12:03.25, destroying her seed time of 12:13.82. She then returned for another first place tally in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming three seconds faster than her seeded time at 6:00.27.
Finally, Irace capped off her stellar day with a winning 200-yard freestyle relay alongside sophomore
Maria Fafian, sophomore
MacKenzie Doherty and junior
Sarah Bennett who slightly edged out their competition with a time of 1:53.12.
Doherty also notched two first place tallies with a commanding victory in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:07.56, about five seconds swifter than her seeded time. the sophomore then followed up with a first place mark in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1.17:43.
In the 100-yard freestyle, it was Bennett who notched first in 59.16 while grabbing second place with a 27.05 50-yard freestyle performance.
Up next, the Devils take on Misericordia University and Arcadia University on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
