Warriors Down Devils 12-5

Box Score MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham Devils (3-4) men's lacrosse team was defeated by the Lycoming College Warriors (1-5) 12-5 on Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.

The Warriors picked up their first win of the season, led by senior Matt McCaffer's game-high six goals. FDU-Florham freshman Connor May (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Aracdia) and junior Frank Reda (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) each tallied two goals for the Devils in the loss.

Lycoming held a 2-0 lead after a defense-oriented first period of play. The Warriors netted the first goal of the second quarter to gain a three-goal advantage. Reda countered with his first goal of the day, before the Warriors added two more strikes. Lycoming entered intermission with a 5-1 lead.

Reda opened the second half scoring with an unassisted goal, his team-leading 29th of the season, which brought the Devils within three at 5-2. However the Warriors fended off the Devils for the remainder of the period and added two goals of their own to stake a 7-2 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

May attempted to bring the Devils back by notching the first two goals of the fourth period, but the Warriors rallied with five-unanswered scores to put the game out of reach.

In defeat, freshman Dalton Rimmer (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) won 11 face-offs and snagged six ground balls, while freshman Dan Decker (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) picked up five ground balls and caused a turnover.
