Box Score KINGS POINT, NY - The College at Florham Devils were defeated in their 2013 season opener by USMMA, 8-2, on Saturday afternoon.  Although FDU had a 35-30 edge in shots, USMMA controlled the faceoffs by winning 11-of-14.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-1 while the Mariners improved to 1-1.

USMMA scored the first four goals of the game, all in the first quarter, before the Devils got on the board with 13:04 left in the second quarter.  Senior attack Cody McHugh scored unassisted to make it 4-1 and the score stayed that way through intermission.  FDU made it 4-2 with 11:12 to go in the third quarter on a goal from junior midfielder Jake Higgins but the Mariners responded by scoring the final four goals of the game to earn the 8-2 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Joe Miller started his first career collegiate game and suffered the loss, making seven saves.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, with their home opener against cross-town rival Drew beginning at 7 pm.
