Box Score MADISON, NJ - Senior midfielder
Adam Koontz tallied three goals and an assist to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 7-3 win over Maritime in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Devils improved to 2-1 on the season.
Koontz got the scoring started with 4:15 left in the first quarter, on a man-up, when he converted a pass from senior midfielder
Paul Colflesh. After Maritime tied it at 1-1 just under a minute later, sophomore midfielder
Jake Higgins gave FDU a 2-1 lead with a goal off a pass from junior midfielder
Cory Weiss on the man-up with 2:03 to go in the quarter. Koontz scored the first goal of the second quarter, off a feed from Higgins, to give the Devils a 3-1 advantage with 11:08 left in the half. The Privateers made it 3-2 with 5:36 remaining and it stayed that way heading into halftime.
Sophomore midfielder
Cody McHugh got hot to start the second half, scoring the first two goals of the third quarter to give the Devils a 5-2 edge with 10:29 to play. Maritime closed to within 5-3 with 6:56 left in the third but Higgins scored off a pass from Koontz to put FDU up 6-3 with 8:11 remaining in the fourth quarter. Koontz put the game out of reach with 6:13 to when he converted a transition goal from freshman defender
Reilly Gilligan to close the scoring.

Gerry Yotcoski picked up the win in cage, making six saves.
